Residents from Halifax and Lucinda took advantage of the “Turning the Screws on Crime” day at Borello Park in Lucinda yesterday. The day was organised by Sergeant John Tantalo from Halifax Police with the assistance of staff from the Townsville Crime Prevention Unit.
Five police recruits from Townsville and local Lions and Lower Herbert Neighbourhood Watch volunteers also helped to make it happen as well.
Sergeant John Tantalo was on hand replacing number plate screws with the anti-theft “one way” screws on vehicles including this 1973 GTR –XU1 Torana.
Sergeant Tantalo said that the day was a great success with over seventy vehicles having their screws replace, another “Turning the Screws on Crime” day will be held in the future.
