Caloundra Primary School has its first QuoCKa session

This morning at Caloundra State Primary School Quota volunteers, the school Adopt-a-Cop, the Manager of Bendigo Bank Caloundra and the schools Facility Officer all volunteered their time to read with students in Year 2A.

This valuable experience was the first session of the newly launched QuoCKa reading program at the school.

The students came to the school library excited, ready and willing to listen and read with the volunteers. They even bought their little QuoCKa friends as well.

Each week five students in the class are presented with a book from Quota International and then have it read by a volunteer from the community. The book has a special sticker in the front which symbolizes the gift provided by Quota.

The student then presents a duplicate copy of the book to the school Librarian for other students to read and enjoy. It is a partnership reading program which is about enhancing the literacy skills of students through the love of reading with a special person from the community. It also helps to bond the relationship the children have with police.

It is another great example of the Queensland Police and the community working together.
