Blast from the past

CPS 1930 a

Charleville Police were recently digging through some archives and located this picture of the original police station.

Research indicates that the station first opened on January 1, 1865.

This building and the building next door still stand and have contributed significantly to the history of Charleville.

A new police complex was built and opened by then Acting Commissioner Ian Stewart in 2009 and the original station (featured above) was converted for the use of the then District Officer and now Patrol Inspector.
