Exclusion zone revoked, Julia Creek

Police have revoked an exclusion zone after a fuel tanker rollover near Julia Creek yesterday afternoon.

The rollover occurred approximately 50 kilometres north of Julia Creek on Punchbowl Road at around 12:15pm.

An exclusion zone of 500 metres was declared at 12.47pm under the Public Safety Preservation Act as emergency services responded to the spill.

The 53-year-old male driver was not injured during the crash.

The exclusion zone was revoked at 4:30am this morning after the fuel was pumped off site and the area declared safe.

Motorists are urged to use caution along Punchbowl Road as the vehicle is recovered today.
