Weekly wrap up, Bribie Island Police

Last week, officers from Bribie Island attended 13 domestic violence incidents across the division, two of which involved contraventions of protection order conditions. Six matters required applications for protection orders to be made. The other incidents were referred to counselling services.

Domestic violence is a serious matter, but help is available. If you or someone you know are living with domestic violence, please call the station for assistance on 07 3410 9222. Always ring Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

Bribie Island officers intercepted 308 vehicles for roadside breath testing. Thirty-two traffic infringement notices were issued, mainly for speeding, failing to wear a seat belt and using a mobile phone whilst driving. Officers from the Landsborough Road Policing Unit also attended the area and issued a number of infringement notices.

Across the weekend, officers from Bribie Island conducted patrol shifts on Main Beach and throughout the off-road area as part of the stations ongoing activities with our local rangers from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.

Officers intercepted several vehicles, issued a number of infringements and apprehended a drink driver. I would encourage all visitors to the off-road area to be aware of the need to have appropriate permits and to obey the road rules as per normal. More information about travelling into the parks area can be obtained from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Bribie Island or online here.
