Fatal traffic crash, Tiaro

An elderly man has died in a two vehicle traffic crash in Tiaro this morning.

Initial information suggests at around 10.50am, a sedan was travelling northbound on Netherby Road when it crashed into a four-wheel-drive towing a caravan heading south 1.5 kilometres south of Tiaro.

The 86-year-old male driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 84-year-old female passenger in the sedan was airlifted to Sunshine Coast Hospital in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The pair is from Hervey Bay.

A man and woman in the four-wheel-drive did not sustain any physical injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
