Police work together to keep our roads safe

Officers from Robina Police, along with those from Palm Beach, Mudgeeraba, Coolangatta, Gold Coast Road Policing Unit and the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrols have been working collaboratively to run an ongoing series of operations targeting unsafe driving, speeding and alcohol and drug affected drivers.

In the most recent operation, police conducted 594 roadside breath tests and 12 roadside drug tests, leading to a very large number of traffic infringement notices being issued, along with several arrests and vehicle immobilisations.

Acting Senior Sergeant Mick Sweeney, Officer in Charge of Robina Police, hailed this as a ‘great result for co-operative policing’ and warned members of the public that these sorts of operations would continue to catch people doing the wrong thing on the road.
