Surfers Paradise Police meet cycling colleague from Germany

Mina and Surfers Paradise Police officers Constable Mitch Curran and Constable Leigh McNamee

Surfers Paradise Station was visited by Mareike Dorf today, a police officer from ZPD in Hannover, Germany. ‘Mina’ as she is known, is on a cycling tour of the world, having secured some leave without pay from her home department where she works in the Riot Squad.

Leaving Germany in January 2016, she travelled to Argentina to begin her travels before making her way north towards Canada and the United States.

Mina has embarked on this adventure alone and plans to conclude her trip at the end of two years on the road, in January, 2018. Her travels so far has seen her clock-up over 18,000 kilometres on her pushbike, already having visited 8 countries in South and North America, the Hawaiian Islands and New Zealand in her first year of travel.

She arrived in Melbourne in March this year and has been making her way up the east coast via Canberra and Sydney towards Brisbane.

Mina has a blog page which she has been updating monthly to document her travels, and with eight months still to go before she is due home hopes to add more adventures to her site.

If you would like to track Mina’s progress you can follow her here.
