Drink driving, Ravenshoe: A 51-year-old local man has been charged after a traffic intercept on Wednesday afternoon in Ravenshoe.

Police will allege the man was intercepted for a roadside breath test on Tumoulin Road, Ravenshoe at about 1.15pm on Wednesday afternoon. The man returned a reading of 0.234 per cent and was issued with an immediate notice of suspension of his driver licence.

He is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court at a later stage, charged with one count of drink driving and driving unlicenced.

Traffic offences, Mt Molloy: Police have charged two people following a traffic intercept in Mt Molloy on Wednesday afternoon.

It will be alleged a 35-year-old man was intercepted for a roadside breath test on Brown Street, Mt Molloy at about 12.30pm. The driver provided a negative reading but was driving unlicenced.

It will further be alleged that a short time later, at 1.05pm, the Mowbray man was again intercepted on Wetherby Road, driving the vehicle.

A 36-year-old female passenger, also from Mowbray, then became abusive towards Police and it will be alleged that she threw the car keys into bushland when the officer attempted to seize the keys before continuing to yell and scream abuse at the single-man officer.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on May 22, with the man charged with two counts of driving unlicenced and one count of public nuisance and the woman charged with one count each of assault/obstruct police and public nuisance.
