Volunteers overwhemingly respond to a call for assistance

Killarney police recently put out a request for assistance in searching for a missing man near Queen Mary Falls.

Expecting a SES crew from Warwick, police were overwhelmed with the response when early the next morning SES crews from Warwick, Toowoomba, Goondiwindi and Inglewood along with the Killarney QAS trained First Responders, started arriving at the station.

Police all too often see the worst in human behaviour but it was heart warming to witness all these volunteers arrive, some who had travelled hundred of kilometres for no other reason than a help out another who in was trouble.

The volunteers participated in a difficult search in wet, steep conditions and included thick scrub and leeches.

It was a SES search team that located the missing man who was injured.
