Unlawful wounding incident, Fortitude Valley

Detectives are investigating an incident at a jewellery store in Fortitude Valley yesterday afternoon in which a man was stabbed a number of times.

Just before 4pm a man entered a jewellery store on Wickham Street and asked a male staff member to show him a ring. The staff member removed the item from the display to show the man when he was punched several times.

The offender then stabbed the staff member with an unknown weapon

The 62-year-old staff member received injuries to his chest, face and arm and was treated at the scene prior to being transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious condition.

The offender fled the store on foot and was last seen heading towards the City.

He is described as being of Asian appearance, aged in his 20’s with short dark hair. He was wearing dark shorts, a dark hooded jumper and it is believed he was not wearing shoes at the time.

Investigations are continuing.
