PSPA declared, Horton

Police have declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act following a single vehicle truck rollover at Horton (Childers).

At about 8.50pm a B-Double fuel tanker travelling on the Bruce Highway in the vicinity of Gelsominos Road crashed causing the vehicle to roll over.

Approximately 20000 litres of fuel leaked onto the roadway and surrounding area.

The driver of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries. No other persons were injured.

The declaration was made at 9pm with an 800-meter exclusion zone in all directions from the crash site with the Bruce Highway blocked in both directions.

Diversions currently in place via Biggenden.

Investigation and management of the incident is continuing.
