Serious traffic crash, Rainbow Beach

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a serious traffic crash at Rainbow Beach earlier today.

At 9.15am, a 13-year-old boy was riding a bicycle west on Carlo Road and turned right into Karoonda Road.

As the boy turned into Karoonda Road he has collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

The boy sustained serious head, neck and leg injuries as a result of the impact.

He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to the Lady Cilento Hospital.

Investigations are continuing.
