Two people have died and a third person is in a critical condition following a traffic crash on the Bruce Highway north of Gympie this morning.
Initial information indicates a car travelling north collided with a southbound truck on the highway at Gunalda around 11.20am.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old man, and his nine-year-old male passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene.
A one-year-old girl, also a passenger in the car, was airlifted to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
The Bruce Highway remains closed in both directions with motorists urged to avoid the area.
A diversion between Gympie and Maryborough is available through Tin Can Bay and Maryborough-Cooloola roads.
