A woman has died following a three vehicle traffic crash on the Bruce Highway near Kuttabul earlier today.
Initial information suggest at 12.10pm a white dual cab utility was travelling north on the Bruce Highway when it has struck the rear of a caravan being towed by a vehicle and travelling in the same direction.
As a result, the utility left the northbound lane and collided with a white sedan travelling south on the Bruce Highway. Both vehicles suffered significant damage.
The sedan’s driver and sole occupant, a 44-year-old woman, was treated by paramedics but died a short time at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the utility, were taken to Mackay Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Bruce Highway was closed for six hours but has since reopened.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
