Armed robbery, Helensvale

Police are investigating an armed robbery of a service station at Helensvale in the early hours of this morning.

Around 4am a man with his face concealed entered the Discovery Drive premises and produced a machete and an adjustable wrench making demands for money from the female employee.

The 44-year-old employee fled into a back room and the front automated doors have shut locking the offender inside the premises.

The offender grabbed some food goods and ran towards the doors where he used the implements to smash the glass door.

The offender fled in a westerly direction without obtaining money.

The offender was wearing a black hoodies, black jeans and black shoes.

Investigations are continuing.
