Dangerous driving charge, Jimboomba

Detectives have charged a 28-year-old man after he allegedly damaged two police vehicles during an incident in Jimboomba overnight.

Police will allege they intercepted a vehicle at a service station on Brisbane Street in Jimboomba at around 7.15pm after an earlier incident where a vehicle allegedly evaded police in Helensvale.

It will be further alleged when officers attempted to take the man into custody he reversed and then accelerated the vehicle, damaging two police cars.

A 28-year-old Main Beach man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, failing to stop a motor vehicle, assault or obstruct police, possession of a knife in a public place, receiving tainted property, possession of utensils or pipes, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

He has also been charged with two counts each of wilful damage of police property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 29.
