Weapons and drugs charges, Kallangur

A 25-year-old Petrie man has been charged with weapons and drugs offences following an incident in Kallangur yesterday.

Police will allege officers attempted to stop and speak with the man on Brewer Road around 3.20pm, however he fled on foot.

It will further be alleged the man ran onto the ground of a nearby educational facility where he threw an item, later located as a loaded sawn-off rifle.

As a precaution the school was placed into lock down for a short period.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a Category D/H/R weapon, carrying a weapon in a public place while loaded, one count of authority required to possess explosives, assault or obstruct police and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He is due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court today, March 15.
