Update 2: Wounding, Benaraby

Police are still seeking a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries following a stabbing in Benaraby on February 2.

Around 4.40pm, a 55-year-old man residing at a house on the Bruce Highway came home and found a man inside his house.

An altercation took place and the 55-year-old resident suffered stab sounds to his hands, shoulder and head.

He was taken to Gladstone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man involved then fled the scene and headed south on the Bruce Highway in a stolen vehicle. The utility was then involved in crash with a police vehicle around 7.30pm before the man fled on foot between Childers and Appletree Creek.

Extensive searches failed to locate the man.

Detectives believe the man pictured may be able to assist them with their inquiries. It is believed he may be somewhere between Brisbane and Townsville.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance with a proportionate build and around 175cm tall. He was wearing a dark blue or dark grey singlet and shorts.

Police are asking anyone who sees the man not to approach him, but to contact them immediately.

Investigations are continuing.
