Assault investigation, Aitkenvale

Police investigating the assault of a 16-year-old girl at a bus stop in Aitkenvale yesterday are appealing for assistance from the public.

Just after 5pm the girl was seated at the Elizabeth Street shopping centre bus stop when she was approached by a man who sat next to her.

He made conversation with her before assaulting her.

The girl was not physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, aged in his 50s with a slim build. He was wearing a black top, black shorts, black baseball cap and had a bandage around his left knee.

Detectives want to speak with anyone who may have seen the incident at the bus stop or the man in the area yesterday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
