Traffic crash and robbery with violence, Tuan

Police are investigating after a man allegedly crashed a stolen car in Tuan today and then stole a second car that was owned by the good Samaritan who tried to help him.

Initial investigations suggest that around 4:00pm the man rolled a stolen vehicle on Boonooroo Road and a member of the public stopped to assist him.

The man wrestled the victim for his keys and stole his car. He drove south about 15 minutes from the original crash location until it ran out of petrol and then fled the scene.

Police are searching for the man and believe he could be walking along the Cooloola Coast Road. He is described as 175cm tall, of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance and wearing black shorts.

If any members have information or see him, they are urged not to approach him and to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.

Investigations are continuing.
