Robbery and assault charges, Fortitude Valley

Two men have been charged following an incident in Fortitude Valley last night.

It will be alleged around 11.40pm the two men were travelling in a white utility along Ballow Street when they have become involved in a verbal altercation with a man and a woman walking along the street.

It is alleged that the two men then exited their vehicle and assaulted the man. The woman went to the man’s aid and was also allegedly assaulted by the pair.

The two men have then allegedly stolen property from the woman’s handbag before leaving the scene in their car.

They were located by police in the Brisbane CBD a short time later and arrested.

The two men, a 43-year-old and a 17-year-old both from Morningside were charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and robbery. The 43-year-old was also charged with driving under the influence of liquor.

The men are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

A 46-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were treated at the scene and conveyed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for further treatment.
