Townsville police recover Lego banana

bannana

Officers from Townsville Forensic unit were processing a scene at Alice River yesterday when one of the officers noticed a banana shaped Lego creation amongst items he was photographing.

The forensic officer and keen Lego fan was able to identify the banana shaped Lego piece, as one of the art works stolen from the Strand Ephemera in August.

The banana was one of the creations by Lego artist Ryan “the Brickman” McNaught which was erected in trees along the esplanade during the art exhibition. The artist was incredibly disappointed that thieves stole the banana along with other Lego creations and will be over the moon to discover the banana has been recovered.

The forensic officer was over the moon to discover the artwork and if it was not for his passion for Lego and keen detective work, the art piece would have gone undetected.

A 17-year-old man from Alice River was detained by police on other unrelated matters.
