Update: Suspicious fire, Moorooka

Police have charged a 74-year-old Spring Hill man with arson following investigations into an alleged suspicious fire at Moorooka on December 28, 2016.

The man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 30, 2017.

Initial media release issued 29 December, 2016:

Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire at a building in Moorooka overnight.

At around 9:30pm emergency services were called to a building on Ipswich Road following reports of a commercial building on fire.

Police closed the road for over two hours while the fire was brought under control.

The building was extensively damaged however no one was injured as a result of the fire.

Initial investigations suggest the fire is suspicious and a crime scene has been established.
