Police are urging residents in Eight Mile Plains to improve security measures in their homes, particularly before going to sleep.
Over the past two weeks there has been an increase in the number of break and enter offences whereby offenders are gaining entry to homes through unlocked doors and windows, usually overnight while residents are sleeping.
Offenders are targeting portable items such as cash, mobile phones and car keys so residents are reminded to keep this property in a secure location.
