Serious traffic crash, Hervey Bay

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash involving a bus and car at Craignish this afternoon.

Initial information indicates a sedan was travelling west on Piabla-Burrum Heads Road and was turning right into Petersen Road when a bus crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle around 4pm.

A six-year-old male passenger of the sedan sustained serious injuries and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital. He is expected to be flown to Brisbane for further treatment.

The 28-year-old female driver of the sedan was also transported to Hervey Bay Hospital with minor injuries.

The 59-year-old male bus driver and his only passenger, a 10-year-old boy, were uninjured.

Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
