The atmosphere at the Amberley District State Primary School yesterday was electric as the school launched its (yet to be named) school mascot. The excitement from the kids, teachers and distinguished guests couldn’t be contained. Even Mayor Paul Pissasale was unable to contain his excitement at the launch and suggesting a couple of names such as Eagleby and even Paul!
The mascot is the face of the schools ‘positive behaviour for learning program’, that teaches children the skills they need to successfully become safe, respectful friendly learners and community members.
A competition was held and students and staff were invited to design the Mascot. A graphic designer and a costume making company in the Netherlands were then given the task of bringing the part eagle, part jet character to life (Very fitting for Ipswich!).
Myself and Chris Leonard were in attendance on the day to congratulate the students and staff on such a great mascot and what it represents in the school and wider community.
