Police and members of the State Emergency Service have today commenced a search of an area around Mt Archer, Rockhampton as part of their investigation into the disappearance of Robert Martinez and Chantal Barnett.

“As a result of information received from the public, we are conducting the search in this specific location,” Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Moon of the Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch said.

Robert Martinez, 26 and Chantal Barnett, 27 were last seen in the Rockhampton/Yeppoon areas in late February or early March. Concerns were raised after the pair failed to make contact with family or friends.

Rockhampton CIB and members of the Homicide Investigation Group continue to investigate the couple’s disappearance and have stepped up their appeal for anyone with information to contact police.

“Anyone who may have seen the pair or their vehicle is asked to contact us or Crime Stoppers. Regardless of how trivial you think the information might be, please come forward and let us know,” Detective Senior Sergeant Moon said.

The car is described as a white Holden VT Commodore sedan, which may have been in the Mt Archer area between February 28 and March 2.

Police have charged 36 drink and drug drivers during a traffic operation on the Sunshine Coast on Friday and Saturday nights.

Maroochydore Police coordinated Operation Mooloolaba Lockdown involving officers from Sunshine Coast Traffic Branch, Tactical Crime, State Traffic Support Branch, Roadside Drug Testing Unit and members from the Brisbane Dog Squad.

A total of 30 drivers were caught drink driving while six drivers tested positive to drug driving at various sites across Mooloolaba during the two-night operation.

As part of the operation, a 50-year-old woman was charged with drink driving (UIL) after allegedly returning a positive reading of 0.210 on Friday night. She is expected to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 20.

A 26-year-old Alexandra Headland man was also arrested after being intercepted in a stolen vehicle near a RBT site in Mooloolaba.

He was charged with two counts each of stealing and enter premises and commit an indictable offence by break; and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of tainted property and possession of an instrument of house breaking. He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

Maroochydore Police Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Gavin Marsh said the significant number of drivers endangering other motorists was alarming.

“It was certainly disturbing to see 36 drivers getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs,” Senior Sergeant Marsh said.

“Our officers have the unfortunately job of seeing the horrible consequences of drink and drug driving day in and day out.

“Drivers must realise that they have a responsibility for not just their own safety or their passengers but for every other road user.”

Operation Mooloolaba Lockdown results:

• 30 drink driving offences
• 6 drug driving offences
• 55 Traffic Infringement Notices
• 8 traffic charges (including disqualified and unlicensed drivers)
• 18 criminal charges (including possession of a dangerous drug)
• 3,427 RBTs and 50 RDTs conducted
