Police have revoked an emergency situation and reopened the Bruce Highway following the controlled detonation of a suspicious item in Edmonton this evening.
The item was found at around 11.45am today by a member of the public and was reported to Edmonton Police soon after.
Officers from the Explosive Ordinance Response Team (EORT) attended the location and X-rayed the item, confirming it to be consistent with an explosive device.
An emergency situation was declared at 4:35pm under the provisions of the Public Safety Preservation Act and revoked at 7:15pm following the controlled detonation of the item by specialist officers.
Investigations are continuing.
