Drink driving, Mareeba: A 50-year-old Wujul Wujul man has been charged after a traffic intercept on Thursday afternoon in Mareeba.
Police will allege the man was asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle that was parked on business premises on Byrnes Street at about 5.35pm When required to provide a roadside breath test he returned a reading of 0.283 per cent.
He is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on May 29, charged with one count of drink driving.
Drug offences, Kuranda: Police have charged a Cooktown man following a traffic intercept on Thursday evening in Kuranda.
It will be alleged a 35-year-old man was intercepted for a roadside drug test on Veivers Street, Kuranda at about 11.50pm, and provided a positive result. It will further be alleged that when required to provide a secondary test the man refused. It will further be alleged that in the process of attempting to obtain the second test the man has become abusive towards staff.
He is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on May 29, charged with one count each of contravene direction, drive UIL, commit public nuisance, fail to provide specimen and drive a vehicle without an interlock installed.
