Chief superintendent appointments for QPS

Commissioner Ian Stewart has announced the appointment of six new chief superintendents to the Queensland Police Service.

Commissioner Stewart congratulated the officers on their promotions from the rank of superintendent.

“These officers have worked across a range of challenging portfolios and will bring a wealth of experience to their assigned roles,” Commissioner Stewart said.

“On behalf of the entire QPS, I congratulate these officers on this significant achievement and wish them the best for the future.”

Chief Superintendent Phil Barrett has been appointed as the Operations Commander, Business Improvement, Organisational Capability Command. In January he celebrated 40 years of service and was recently the Superintendent of Frontline Capability, Business Improvement, Organisational Capability Command.

Chief Superintendent Glenn Horton has been appointed as the Operations Commander, Internal Investigations, Ethical Standards Command. He has received many accolades during his 37 years’ service including the Australian Police Medal in 2013. Chief Superintendent Horton was recently the Superintendent, Communications Group, Community Contact Command.

Chief Superintendent Charysse Pond has been appointed as the Operations Commander, State Crime Command. She was recently the Superintendent, Ipswich District, Southern Region and had served in the Ipswich District since 2005. Chief Superintendent Pond received the Australian Police Medal in 2010 at the rank of Senior Sergeant.

Chief Superintendent Kevin Guteridge has been appointed as the District Officer, Townsville District, Northern Region. He was most recently the Superintendent, Mt Isa District, Northern Region and in April celebrated 40 years’ service.

Chief Superintendent Brett Schafferius has been appointed as the District Officer, Far North District, Northern Region. In January he celebrated 33 years’ of service and spent the last four years in the Northern Region, most recently as the Superintendent, Far North District, Northern Region.

Chief Superintendent Brian Wilkins has been appointed as the District Officer, South Brisbane District, Brisbane Region. He celebrated 39 years’ of service in January was most recently the Superintendent, Intelligence, Counter-Terrorism and Major Events Command which he was appointed to in July 2013.
