Police investigating human remains located in Brighton on November 29 have identified them as belonging to Wayne Youngkin who went missing in 1986.
Mr Youngkin was previously a resident of North Street in Brighton and was 29-years-old when he went missing.
The death is being treated as suspicious and detectives from the Homicide Squad are assisting with the investigation.
Investigators are also appealing for a person who called Sandgate Police Station on August 22, 1992 in relation to Wayne’s disappearance to come forward and provide further information to police.
The remains were discovered in the disused tank at the back of a North Street special education facility during routine maintenance.
