Police have charged two men following an alleged assault in Cannonvale yesterday afternoon.
It will be alleged at approximately 4:30pm, two men forced their way into a unit on Shute Harbour Road and assaulted a male resident.
Police will further allege the men tied the resident up before assaulting him further.
The men were interrupted when two police officers who were in the area on an unrelated matter heard the alleged incident taking place and entered the unit, taking two men into custody.
A 36-year-old man was transported to Proserpine Hospital for treatment of abrasions to his head, feet and hands.
A 25-year-old man from Mackay has been charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm, torture, enter dwelling with intent and unlawful possession of a weapon.
A 27-year-old man from Mackay has been charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm, torture, enter dwelling with intent, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a dangerous drug.
Both men are due to appear in the Proserpine Magistrates Court today.
