Attempted arson, Wulguru

Police have charged a man following the attempted arson on a Townsville fish and chip shop over the weekend.

Around 10pm on Easter Saturday, a man allegedly threw a lit projectile through the window of the Edison Street, Wulguru business which smashed the front window and started several small fires.

Emergency services were able to extinguish the fires before any substantial damage occurred.

A 20-year-old Annandale man has been charged with one count of attempted arson and is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
