Arson charge, Millaa Millaa

Police have charged a man following a house fire that occurred yesterday morning at Millaa Millaa.

Around 11.30am, police were called to a house on Whiteing Road following reports of a fire.

On arrival, the house was ablaze and suffered extensive damage and a vehicle in the yard was also damaged by the fire.

A man was taken into custody this afternoon.

Police have charged an 18-year-old Beatrice man with one count each of arson, willful damage and possession of a dangerous drug.

He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates court tomorrow.
