Update: Serious traffic crash, Guthalungra (Bowen)

The Bruce Highway, approximately 45 kilometres north of Bowen is now open following an earlier traffic crash.

Initial information suggests that just before midnight last night, a hatchback collided with a four-wheel-drive heading in the opposite direction at Guthalungra.

The female driver of the hatchback has been airlifted to Townsville Base Hospital in a serious condition.

A female passenger of the hatchback and a male driver of the second vehicle both sustained injuries.

The Bruce Highway, at the scene of the crash, was closed for a period of time, but is now open.

There is no further information available at this stage.  Investigations are continuing.
