The Forensic Crash Unit, along with other agencies, will continue to investigate a helicopter crash that took the life of a 50-year-old man this morning.
Initial investigations suggest that about 10.20am, a helicopter crashed into a sugar cane field on a property on Jackson Crossing Road, near Carmila.
It appears that the helicopter, with the sole occupant pilot, struck power lines before crashing and bursting into flames.
The pilot, a 50-year-old man from Emerald, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigations are continuing. There is no further information available at this stage.
