Police are currently on scene at a fatal helicopter crash that occurred this morning south of Mackay.
Around 10.20am, police were called to a property on Jackson Crossing Road near Carmila when a helicopter appears to have struck power lines and crashed into a sugarcane field.
The helicopter burst into flames and the male pilot and sole occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is at the scene and are conducting investigations in coordination with other agencies.
Investigations are continuing.
