The Flinders Highway is expected to re-open at 6pm following yesterday’s truck rollover and sulfuric acid spill.
The Highway remains closed between the Hopevale turnoff and the Flinders Highway.
All of the sulfuric acid from the damaged tanks has been emptied out and a recovery crew is currently separating them from the prime mover.
The prime mover and first tank are undamaged and will be driven from the site after the separation occurs.
The recovery of the tanks and trucks is on schedule to be completed by 6pm.
Around 2.25pm yesterday, a truck transporting three tanks of sulfuric acid rolled whilst travelling west on the Flinders Highway about 50 kilometres west of Richmond.
One of the tanks containing around 17,000 litres of sulfuric acid spilled onto the highway.
