Armed robbery and drug charges, Varsity Lakes

Two men have been charged after an alleged armed robbery of a tavern in Varsity Lakes earlier this morning.

Police will allege that around 2.40am, two men entered the Santa Maria Court premises, one armed with a firearm and made demands for cash.

The men allegedly left the tavern with a sum of cash and got into a vehicle where another two men were waiting.

A 24-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with one count of armed robbery and three counts of possessing dangerous drugs

These two mean are due to appear in the Southport Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

A 27-year-old Clear Island Waters man has been charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

A 21-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs

These two men are expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on April 5.
