Truck rollover, Richmond

Police and emergency services are currently on scene at a single vehicle truck rollover which has caused a chemical spill west of Richmond.

Initial inquiries indicate that at about 2.25pm a truck transporting three tanks of sulphuric acid rolled whilst travelling west on the Flinders Highway about 50km west of Richmond.

One of the tanks is leaking the hazardous material and police have declared a 10km exclusion zone under The Public Safety Preservation Act around the site.

The Flinders Highway is closed in both directions.

The male driver was uninjured but has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

Diversions are in place and are suitable for conventional and heavy vehicles including road trains.
