Police have charged a man following an incident in Mackay last night.
It will be alleged that at about 8.45pm police attended a residence in Paradise Street following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival a male occupant of the residence has been observed to have a gun.
Police withdrew and formed a cordon around the address and commenced negotiations with the man. Around 2.15am a 37-year-old man surrendered to police without incident.
A 37-year-old South Mackay man has been charged with two counts of assault police and one count each of possess knife in public place and possess dangerous drug and utensil. The man is expected to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow, March 21.
