Burglary, Scarborough

Police are investigating a burglary that occurred in Scarborough in the early hours of Saturday morning, March 19.

Officers were called to an address on Landsborough Avenue following reports that two men had unlawfully entered the courtyard area of a second storey unit and threatened a female occupant.

The unit is attached to the upper floor of a building, with a business located on the lower level. The two floors are connected by a staircase.

Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the residents, a 42-year-old woman, walked out onto the upper story courtyard after hearing a noise and noticed a man standing towards the top of the stairs that lead up to the courtyard.

The woman quickly closed the gate at the top of the stairs and was then approached by a second man who was already in the courtyard. The man threatened to harm the woman if she didn’t hand over cash. She turned and ran back inside the unit.

The pair fled the courtyard and were last seen entering a dark-coloured sedan.

The 42-year-old woman was not physically injured during the incident.

Investigating officers have released CCTV footage of two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
