Traffic incident, Burketown

Police were called after a vehicle, trailer and boat were washed off the road south of Burketown today.

Around 4.45am, a vehicle towing a boat was driving on Wills Development Road and attempted to cross a section that had been inundated.

The vehicle and boat became stuck in flood waters and were washed down stream.

Three occupants managed to escape from the vehicle and walked to a property for help.

Burketown Police have been in contact with the occupants but cannot travel to the scene due to flooding.

Police would like to remind all drivers that attempting to cross flooded roadways is extremely dangerous.

No matter who you are or what you drive, if it’s flooded – forget it.
