Surfers Paradise incident

Police have commenced inquiries into an incident in Surfers Paradise on February 14.

Initial inquiries indicate officers responded to a public nuisance incident at the corner of Elkhorn Avenue and Surfers Paradise Boulevard about 12.20am.

While there has not been a complaint about the police conduct in this incident, the Queensland Police Service has commenced immediate inquiries into the circumstances including the appropriateness of the use of force.

It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time as related matters are still before the court.

A 22-year-old Woodridge man was charged with obstruct police and public nuisance and was scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.
