Burglary with violence, Cleveland

Police are investigating following a violent burglary in Cleveland overnight.

Initial investigations suggest shortly after 8pm two men gained entry to a residence on Brief Street, threatening two people with a knife and assaulting one of them.

The men demanded cash and property before fleeing.

A 36-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor facial injuries but was not transported to hospital.

A 60-year-old woman who was also home at the time was not physically injured.

Police are looking for two men, both described as Caucasian in appearance.

One man is described as approximately 170cm tall and of slim build. The second man is described as approximately 180cm tall.

Investigations are continuing.
