Police are appealing for assistance to locate a man they believe could assist with investigations into a burglary with violence this morning at Everton Park.
Initial investigations indicate that around 6.25am, a man forced entry into a unit on Buller Street when he was seen by a woman who alerted a male occupant, who was inside a bedroom.
When the man confronted him, he attempted to steal a handbag.
In an effort to stop him from taking the handbag, a physical altercation ensued between the two men.
The man from the unit sustained minor injuries to his jaw and arm, before managing to push the other man out.
After being locked outside, the man caused further damage to the front door before leaving on foot on South Pine Road without any property.
The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance and aged in his 30s, with a slim build and brown eyes. He is also believed to be approximately 170cm tall.
Anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
Police particularly want to speak with a group of people who were believed to be exercising on South Pine Road shortly after 6.30am.
