PSPA declared, Sunnybank

Police have declared an emergent situation under the provisions of the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA).

Officers were called to an accommodation complex on Mains Road in Sunnybank at around 1pm following reports a man armed with a screwdriver had barricaded himself in a room at the address.

No one else is believed to be in the room with the man and no one has been injured during the incident.

Police declared an emergent situation at 5pm.

Specialist officers are on scene as police negotiate with the man to resolve the incident peacefully.
