Man injured in nightclub assault, Fortitude Valley

Police are investigating after a 24-year-old man sustained facial injuries during an assault at a Fortitude Valley nightclub this morning.

Preliminary information indicates the man was sitting on a chair in a Brunswick Street club around 2.35am when a man approached him and punched him once in the face.

The force of the blow broke a glass the offender had been carrying in his fist resulting in the victim sustaining a laceration to his face and eye.

The 24-year-old man from Beenleigh was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.

The offender, who is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cms tall with a slim build and aged in his 20s, fled the scene.

He was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, black short sleeved shirt and dark coloured cargo style shorts.
