Christmas Road Safety Campaign – Day 9

christmas road safety campaign 2015Police are continuing to urge motorists to consider the fatal five before driving after a large amount of drink and drug drivers were detected in Queensland overnight.

A 31-year-old Daisy Hill man was riding his motorcycle along Paradise Road, Slacks Creek at 6.30pm last night when it collided with a vehicle near Meaking Road.

The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.

One motorist was detected travelling 167km in a 110km zone on the Bruce Highway through Landsborough, and another motorist was caught driving under the influence after recording a positive result of 0.280% in Bamaga.

Police are reminding motorists that they will be out in force over the Christmas holidays targeting the fatal five: speeding, fatigue, impaired driving (drink and drug), failure to wear a seat belt and distraction/inattention.
